The Rambler-
Itinerant Theatre house
The Rambler is a purpose built venue on a single axle trailer designed and built by Afsaneh Torabi and Leighton Stephens.
Since it's launch in 2018 as an itinerant theatre, The Village Arts Festival has commissioned 2 new works to be presented in it.
The first show, made in collaboration with storyteller Samantha Bews as Miss Hera See, saw The Rambler transformed into an alchemist's lab or odditorium where relics, traces and artefacts from ancient myths hid clues and puzzles that accompanied Miss Hera's immersive storytelling.
The second show, presented at The Falls Festival Marion Bay, is a homage to the sea. By night, seafarers can step aboard The Rambler in small groups and find themselves transported into an underwater bioluminescent wonderland, complete with stingrays passing overhead, glowing jellyfish, rich and diverse coral, crabs and giant octopus. Light refracts and dances as through the surface of water and a musical score (By AquaSonic) made entirely of sounds recorded underwater enfolds the space.
Both experiences are all-ages and currently available for touring, as is The Rambler as a venue or artist residency, without shows.
Tech specs available on request.
