D.E.X.
Dex is the name of a dog that seems to run a hardware store in Amsterdam North .
He inspired D.E.X., an experiential experiment which took the shape of a Winkel Ervarings Winkel (or Shop Experiences Shop in English) that Keez Duyves from Pips:lab and I created as part of an artists in residence program with Rhizomatic Project Space For Artistic Research in Amsterdam North.
The showing took place at a community festival where visitors could select one of three experiences. Some were fitted with an automated tail and sent into a box to experience life 'from the other side of the counter' as Dex himself whilst others were guided though 3D photographic virtual reality spaces. Then there was the infamous Canine Self Reflection Centre, but only those who dared venture into that experience can recount what happened there...
